Independent Census Scientific Advisory Committee

Empowering Effective Governance Through Scientific Expertise

I-CSAC

The Independent Census Scientific Advisory Committee (I-CSAC) is a group of nationally recognized experts who provide independent, science-based advice to strengthen the U.S. Census Bureau.

Formed after the federal Census Scientific Advisory Committee (CSAC) was terminated in early 2025, I-CSAC continues the same essential mission: to provide scientific and technical expertise to address Census Bureau objectives and programs. I-CSAC members were appointed and vetted by the U.S. Census Bureau, bringing decades of combined expertise in demography, economics, geography, data science, statistical methods, complex surveys, computer science, remote sensing, operations, communications, disclosure avoidance, and more.

While no longer a federal advisory body, I-CSAC remains committed to transparency, scientific rigor, and the principle that reliable census data is vital to guiding public policy, ensuring fair representation and resource allocation, and helping businesses, communities and individuals make informed decisions.
